Biology

We believe that Biology should be as interactive as possible to help pupils develop their passion and curiosity by exploring how living organisms work and interact with each other.

Pupils are encouraged to participate in thought-provoking events such as our annually held Science Symposium, led by professors from well-renowned establishments. STEM Learning (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) is encouraged across all three Sciences, rewarding pupils with the CREST award to recognise their independent research and execution of a practical task, as well as in inter-school STEM contest run by SATRO.

Beyond the Classroom

Practical activities are the very basis of making our lessons as engaging as possible and our weekly Biology clubs reflect this. Dissection club allows pupils to dissect the more unusual organs such as lungs and testicles, as well as organisms such as sardines and squid.

Opportunities for learning extend outside the classroom literally with our outside classroom which is excellent for sampling techniques in Ecology. Pupils are offered the opportunity to visit Tilgate Nature Park and Nower Wood Educational Nature Reserve as part of their Biology studies.
