Diversity & Inclusion

At Dunottar School, we are committed to fostering a vibrant and inclusive community where diversity is celebrated, equity is championed and inclusion is a fundamental aspect of our educational ethos.

We value and respect the unique perspectives, backgrounds and identities of every individual within our community. Our goal is to create an environment where everyone experiences a profound sense of belonging and can be inspired to reach their full potential.

Diverse Curriculum

Our curriculum challenges any potential biases by incorporating a checklist and considerations for unconscious bias. For example, in languages, we explore alternative pronouns for pupils identifying as non-binary, promoting a curriculum that reflects and respects diverse identities. We actively review and update our educational content to ensure diverse representation, challenging stereotypes. This includes curricular materials, reading lists and other resources to provide pupils with a more inclusive and well-rounded perspective.

READI (Rainbow Education Alliance of Diverse Individuals) Club

The READI Club provides pupils with a platform to voice their perspectives, explore different areas and contribute to initiatives that circulate throughout the school. This club empowers pupils to actively engage in promoting diversity and inclusion.
