Year 5 Philosophy Competition Workshop

14th October 24

We recently held a workshop for those Year 5 pupils who entered our latest creative competition. The competition challenged pupils to showcase their thoughts on four thought-provoking questions through a variety of mediums, including newspaper articles, stories, essays, videos or mind maps. The questions ranged from the ethical – “Should animals have the same rights as humans?” to the philosophical — “Do you think everyone has a destiny?” and “How do you know if you are dreaming or awake?” as well as a reflection on competition itself with the question, “Is it important to always win?”

We were so impressed with the number and quality of the entries that we invited all entrants to our philosophy workshop. Congratulations go to our two winners:
Edward J – 1st Place
Edward’s news article about animal rights was a great read. We also really liked Edward’s animal rights group: WOOFAIRS. Well done!
Grace R – 2nd Place
We thoroughly enjoyed watching Grace’s bubbly and vibrant presentation about how you could know if you are dreaming or not. The alliteration on the contestants’ names really made us laugh and Grace used her technology skills to execute a very creative idea.

Thank you to everyone who entered the competition – we thoroughly enjoyed reviewing the entries!
