Dunottar’s Warrior Learners Celebrate A-level Success

Today, students at Dunottar School were celebrating their A-level results. Overall, 96 per cent successfully fulfilled their offers for their first or second choice university. Jamie B, who achieved four A*s said, “I am absolutely thrilled with my A-level results. I have secured a place at my first-choice university to study Aerospace and Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Bath. I could not have achieved this without the unwavering support and guidance of my teachers.”

Dunottar pupils will now be heading to Russell Group universities, including Bath, Nottingham, Southampton, Warwick and York as well as to apprenticeship programmes with leading employers, including BP and commercial airline pilot academy, L3Harris. Mark G, who leaves Dunottar with A*AA said, “I am delighted that all my hard work has paid off and I have been accepted to study Computer Science at the University of York! My time at Dunottar has been brilliant, it has shaped the person I am by instilling in me the Warrior Learning values. I have made so many friends and memories. Educational and cultural school trips have been a highlight of my time at Dunottar.”

During the summer term, Dunottar was inspected by the ISI (Independent Schools Inspectorate). The ISI was really impressed by the school, and the inspectors were exceptionally positive about Dunottar. The inspection found that, “Staff support the aims and work diligently to bring out the best in each pupil, enabling pupils to be the best they can be. As a result, pupils are comfortable to be themselves, grow in self-esteem and approach their learning with confidence.” Our parents agree. One Sixth Form parent commented, “I really believe that Dunottar and all the fantastic teachers have been pivotal to whom pupils are becoming as adults. The culture at Dunottar is inspirational and contagious.”

Mr Mark Tottman, Headmaster, commented, “The ISI report highlights the inspiring and nurturing environment that Dunottar creates for students, providing them with outstanding opportunities. Our A-level students have had an exceptional experience at Dunottar.”

Our Warrior Learning approach to education is not just about academic qualifications. Our leavers have excelled across all areas of school life: co-curricular clubs and societies, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, sport, music and drama productions, as charity fundraisers and in leadership roles. Romilly H, has been an active member of the school community. She said, “I recommend taking advantage of all the opportunities provided by Dunottar. In my first year of Sixth Form my leadership roles included prefect, sport ambassador and charity ambassador. In Year 13 I took on the role of Head of School and First Team Netball Captain. These roles have encouraged me to develop essential life skills that will help prepare me for future academic and career success.”

Head of School, Henry O’C said, “My time at Dunottar has been a journey of growth and discovery. I’ve learned the power of creativity, collaboration and inclusivity. As Head of School, I had the privilege of shaping our community, a family I’ll always cherish. As I step into the working world, I carry with me the spirit of Dunottar—always ready to think outside the box and seize new opportunities. Once a Warrior Learner, always a Dunottar Warrior Learner.”
