22nd March 23
Friday 17th March saw the GCSE geographers joyfully set off for their weekend at Flatford Mill Field study centre in Suffolk. Located on the site of Constable’s most famous painting, the scenery did not disappoint and nor did the geography. Pupils engaged in a range of fieldwork activities across the weekend to support their answers in Paper 3 of their GCSE. On Saturday, they hopped over the border to Essex for the day and investigated the impact of coastal protection on the beaches at Walton-on-the-Naze. No trip to the seaside is complete without an ice cream and the cliff top cafes were happy to oblige. Mrs Thorne brought the school drone with her and captured some excellent footage of the coastal landforms and pupils hard at work- look out for this soon. On Sunday morning, pupils wrote up their fieldwork in the field centre classroom before retuning home to Reigate to spoil their mums on Mother’s Day!
