With 100% pass rate at A’ level once again, Headteacher Nikki Matthews was delighted: “Our pupils have achieved tremendous results, which are a credit to their hard work and commitment. They will now be able to go on to the next stage of their education at a number of our best universities. We are all delighted for them, and their success will inspire everyone in the school.”
The results are impressive: more than a quarter are A or A* and 83% are A* – C.
One student achieved a fantastic sweep of grade As across all her subjects. Sophie Powell-Cook achieved A grades in Maths, History and French, and she will study History at Bristol University.
“I’m really looking forward to going to Bristol and I’m delighted with my results,” she commented. “It’s a very special day.”
Head of Sixth Form, Mrs Bethan Jackson, said: “Sophie has flourished throughout her academic career at Dunottar, and this is the well-deserved icing on the cake.”
Subjects that other students will study at university include Nuclear Physics and Engineering. Paige Griffiths and Michaela Painter both said that they were “excited about the next stage” of their studies.
AS level results were also available today, and one student achieved 100% in two of her exams. Francesca Webb, who will be School Captain from September, achieved full marks in her Maths and Chemistry papers. This follows her fantastic A* GCSE results last year.
